Jo Joy

Licensed Acupuncturist, Qi Gong Teacher,

Jo has always had an interest in health, having worked for over 20 years as a practice nurse. In 2014 she started study for a degree in acupuncture at the well-established College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading, a branch of Kingston University. Jo achieved a BSc Hons Acu, and licence to practise acupuncture in 2018.

This was followed in 2019 with a diploma in Tui na from the College. Since then, she has attended annual conferences and maintains an ongoing professional development plan to keep learning and growing. She also receives regular ongoing professional supervision.

As many know, acupuncture is one branch of the East Asian healing arts. Others include using diet as medicine, herbs, and Qigong, a gentle slow-moving exercise which has been practised in the East for thousands of years, and which is gaining more popularity in the West.

Since being introduced to Qigong at College Jo uses the form and has learned other forms to help bring calmness, clarity, peace, and a more easeful way of being. There is increasing evidence of the benefit of Qigong in maintaining flexibility and stability into old age. For this reason Jo has recently started offering short taster courses to give others insight to the wonderful effects such simple moves can bring.
